Fifty high and middle schools across Virginia are kicking off a statewide campaign to increase seat belt usage rates among teens and youth.The three鈥恮eek challenge, Save Your TAIL鈥怗ate, Buckle Up will encourage youth and teens to develop a lifelong habit of buckling up. It is sponsored by Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety YOVASO , the Virginia State Police VSP , and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Office. The Allstate Foundation is sponsoring the campaign through a generous grant that is funding educational materials for participating schools. The grant is also funding prizes for the high and middle schools that place in the top three for their programs to encourage seat belt use among students.During the three-week challenge, student groups from schools across the state will compete stanley polska against one another to increase seat belt use among teens and youth. Virginia lawmakers are on the verge of making dramatic progress toward safer roadways. These three changes are long overdue and represent major advancements in the fight to save lives, said Martha Mitchell Meade, manager public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. AAA urges lawmakers to continue to approve these bills and send them to the governor for his signature. Lives depend on it. The bills getting the most attention from advocates would ban the use of handheld electronic devices while driving, prohibit open containers of alcohol in the passenger compartment of vehicles, and allow police officers to pull ov stanley italia er and ticket those not wearing seat beltsAAA surveyed Virginia drivers in 2019 and found that nearly two-thirds support expanding Virginias law to聽prohibit handheld devices聽while driving on any road and not just in work stanley spain zones as is the current law.
